First time I was ever in Ukraine was Odessa in 2003.  I was surprised to see cars parked on the sidewalk.  I asked my friend why they didn't park in the street, just then a car speeded past me nearly hitting me.  My friend said "Why would anybody risk parking in the street?" That very night, there was an accident right outside my hotel in Odessa about 2:00 am - one car jumped a curve and hit a wall - killing the driver.  I could see the smashed car right below my window.  Ukraine drivers are terrible.

I could have found a better "advertisement" for Holy Ukrainian Pochaevskaya Lavra which is amongst  strongest bastions of Russian Orthodox Christianity in the world. My condolences go to families and friends of all who have died.

My sincere condolences on this terrible tragedy. I have been to Ukraine more than 20 times and ridden on many many busses.  Ukrainian drivers are seriously the worst I have ever seen in the world.  I have wtnessed many accidents and am only surprised it is not more.

Comments of Eurasian kill the credibility of this site. There's a lot of stupid Russians that cause the deaths of innocent non-stupid Russians also.

Terribly sad for this and I hate it.

I live in a former Soviet republic and often travel by bus. More than once I have seen the bus drivers texting while driving. Accidents like this happen everywhere but I can state that here much more and it is because of things like this. I have travelled in buses where the driver rode at more than 100 kms an hour on a snowy ice road.  They are facking brutal and mindless.  In Kiev I have landed and taken off on tracks completely covered by snow and chunks of ice, something that would have closed down the airport in any EU city.
I have taken buses in Ukraine where 132 were inside for only 55 seats available, I was sitting on the floor of the corridor like many others.

Sad day for Russia. First the flood victims, now this...
