Plane crash in Russia's Tyumen region

Published: 03 January, 2007, 11:00

Two people are reported to have been killed in a plane crash in Russia's Tyumen region in Western Siberia. The investigation into the cause of the tragedy has begun by the local prosecutor’s office.

The private 4-seat light aircraft crashed shortly after take-off on Wednesday morning, killing the two people on board.

Eyewitnesses said the plane started shaking and went down in an open-air car market near the airport.

The Emergencies Ministry said no one was hurt on the ground.

Officials are still working on the scene of the tragedy.
