@@@ the search for Earth-like planets has borne fruit....raising hopes amoung inhabitants of  an exhausted Earth of a back-up planet for humanity...."    What is point of this story?   Are people of this planet so in need of false hope for future?  So, 7 Billion people are going to pack off and move to some planet, and most will die before we get there.  And for what?  So we can wreak that planet too?  Nah, I say we just save ourselves the expense and travel time and just stay here and continue to wreck this one.  After all, it is our home; and all the countries here can continue to make thier own contributions to wrecking our planet.   In short, quit wasting money on crackpot ideas that they cannot possibly turn into reality.

Ohh great; lets go screw up another planet after we are done raping this one!"You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus." Mr.Smith ~ The Matrix

@Aristaeus: And you got 15 thumbs up! God save us! I thought RT was really composed by better minds than the mainstream media, but I am beginning to see there is no difference. I am the expert in the matter and I should run fast plugging my ears to avoid going insane when I read/hear your mindless babble but I have never been able to put up with nonsense and always fight it back. Life is nothing but the macroscopic perception that we have of animated interrelations amongst very basic chemical structures attracted and repelled by electric charges. The very basic compounds of water and ammonia subjected to electric charges in specific conditions of pressure were able to form the most simple aminoacids, basic bricks of proteins. The repeated joints by attraction would be forming the more and more complex structures. There is not such a thing as the soul, you can see that it takes a biochemical dysfunction for a sweet person (sweet soul) to turn into a dangerous psychopath. The less or more dense neuron networks in our brain, the different sizes of it amongst persons within a race and amongst different races make us less or more intelligent.

Our planet it’s the most perfect place in galaxy the problem is that the habitants of it’s surface Humans are a bunch of brainwashed creatures guided by so called “elites” in our path of self distraction, because of their greed and thirst of power, and we the “middle class” believe all this years that elites actions are for the good of humanity what now they looking for another planet to take it’s resources and poison they minds .Yes great discovery, luckily we do not posses the technology to travel such great distances otherwise we will become the destroyers of other planets and civilizations as you all see we are professionally qualified.     &nbs p;

i am proud to read the oppinions of so many like-minded well adjusted and sensible individuals in this comments section. to say that there a tough decisions to make in the future is a gross understatement and it shall be the ultimate task of our generation. solving our problems will not be in any way easy, but the challenge starts with our individual mindset, and how we appreciate the tools we have been given; the working field we have found ourselves in.
to me, suddenly the world seems a lot less hostile (us against them mentality) and a lot more workable. i hope that politicians will finally see that the internet must remain free as it is one of our greatest tools of communication. it will be a sad day for earth the day that they censor content that does not abide by the rulings of our outdated system.

thank you for reading friends and be strong in this turnover age, we will the instruments for the greatest enlightenment the world has yet seen.

Sorry for being mentally retarded but if I correctly understand, 600 light years away means that when we manage to travel at 300.000 kms per second, it would take us 600 years to get there. So, as far as I am concerned, those psychopaths who spend trillions in useless rubbish and who have a destroy and waste mentality could go and f and then u and then c and then k themselves. All efforts should me addressed towards saving our planet instead of useless fantasies about outer worlds and vudu stuff.

Given the planets mass, and radius for a planet with that mass - then G at the surface is not pretty.

You couldn't live there - the cartilage in your joints would wear out - and given the stem cells are on the top layer of the cartilage, you would be toast.

I believe that that system in Question is already occupied, and they probably don't like humans.

that planet is for inhabitants of that planet not for us , if we try to claim it how do we know if there is intelligent life on that planet and what if they are better than us, then it would be them that will colonise us.

Jokers will never make it to 600 light year in a million generations...It cannot be done without using the etheric travel principles found by nikola tesla.

We can't even manage life as a species on this planet... If ever we make the journey to a 'new planet' I'd wish for it to be out of curiousity and in a general effort not to colonise but to explore space. Our laws, our ideologies, our religions etc. should have absolutely no say when it comes to space - explorations!
