A parade of vintage vehicles dedicated to V-Day has taken place in Moscow. Featured were several “Pobedas”, an auto designed to mark Soviet victory in the Great Patriotic War – that chapter of WWII fought on Soviet soil.

Let us remember the fallen…

At 7 pm Moscow time all federal TV and radio stations halted their programs for a period of silence to remember those who fell in the Great Patriotic War. This is a forty-year-old tradition observed annually on V-Day.

Tallinn police remove replicas of Soviet memorials

Estonian police have removed a memorial plaque from the centre of the capital, Tallinn. It bore the name of Capt. Ivan Sysoyev, a Soviet officer killed in the battles for Tallinn in September 1944.
