Polish vandals scare two giraffes to death

May 16, 2012 15:07

Two female giraffes have died of heart attack and stress caused by a night rampage by a group of vandals in a Polish zoo. The zoo is now struggling to find a mate for the only survivor, six-year-old Tofik from the endangered Rothschild subspecies.

so do most giraffes die after surviving a predator attack? i mean a lion must be just as stressfull, no? i think the zoo is downplaying the constant stress these animals were under by being in a zoo....

I feel very sad about the needless loss of the lives of vulnerable innocent caged animals. Or, I could snarkily add that "knocking off" 2 out of 3 Rothschilds giraffes isn't a bad start.  Was it Stalin that once said "One death is a tragedy. A million deaths is a statistic."?  /snark_offGlobal warming, especially the absurd "carbon tax" meme, doesn't mean much compared to the profligate use by USA/NATO of Depleted Uranium munitions since 1991, along with the "virtual volcano" of radiation still "erupting" from Fukushima Dai-ichi.  If the common people of every country really mattered, no issue of global human importance could be greater than dealing immediately with these continuing nuclear disasters.

People/public have to start realizing that to let these types of crimes go unpunished will reverbriate back on them.  Criminals that have adapted to these sensations of mayhem, killing, lack of respect and animal cruelty will then find it just as easy to do it again with no fear of doing it to a human.

Poles have a strange sense of humor. If the are not entertaining themselves by raping and vandalizing each other, they turn on the zoo creatures.
