Silesia, a province in the south of Poland made up of a diverse cultural mix, has announced that it wants to be free of the state amidst the worsening economic crisis gripping the country.
I agree, I live in Silesia and have not heard of a drive to independence, looking at Katowice, Bytom and area it needs central government and EU help badly. Surly the time to go independent would have been after the war up to the 70's when it was earning most of Polands foeign currency due to coal and steel exports. about-poland.com
I live and work in Poland and I have to say that I never hear that Silaesia has a move towards independence. They are looking for an autonomy but not an independence. That's a huge difference dear Red Comrades. Mr European. Germans has started a First World War, they lost it and they have lost a huge size of territory mainly on the east. 20 Years later Germans has started a Second World War, they lost it again and they lost a bigger size of territory on the east. I think that If you ever decided try to take back someone else land country called Germany shouldn't be bigger from size of a Luxemburg.
These territories belong to Poland since it's first king, Bolesław Chrobry (1025 AD). Before the WWII they were STOLEN from Poland by German occupants. I think, that this news is just russian propaganda.
European wrote: "Before the WWII these territories were part of Germany and annexed by Poland in 1945." You are wrong, my friend. Poland did not annexed these territories, and your education - as far as history is concerned - is beyond accepted standard. Find out what was agreed at the Yalta Conference (to which Poland was NOT invited)
My Red Comrades. Is Kaliningrad back to Germany? What do you think?
Hehehehe, good example of propaganda. There are more members of "Party of Beer Lovers" than members of "movement for Silesia autonomy". You can also talk about "movement for free east Moscow district "
> These territories belong to Poland since it's first king, Bolesław Chrobry (1025 AD). Before the WWII they were > STOLEN from Poland by German occupants. I think, that this news is just russian propaganda. No, this is not true. Take some history lessons first. Upper Silesia NOT BELONG TO POLAND since XIV century (til 1945). Its a fact.
Dear Red Comrades, I live and work in Silesia and I have never heard of this movement, and I have never heard about the resentment targeted at Polish state there. It's weird. Such organization exists, I check it, but it has marginal support.
FREE SILESIA! I AGREE!
Be brave and tell everybody who really made this film... This is german propagandna and the film`s idea belong to them. They want take polish lands back, not with the gun but with politicks.
It is Not Polish, Not German but Celtic- and jewish (-mix =silesian) soil, others where visitors. Overrulers make 'their' history. Video is russian of Novosti-RT, and give a sharp -well- picture, alltough a few basic journalistic things missing, but okay. Any how God determine borders of Land in future (Deuteronom.32) and brings to justice all wrongdoers at all sides, people need seek harmony and not stamp up a culture and tongue of the mass, more gently give a mosaic space. shalom.

Hmmm... strange I live and work in Katowice but I never heard that there is so strong resentment towards independence, as it is described in this article.
