The Falkland Islands will remain UK sovereign territory until the island residents themselves decide otherwise. Unless of course with attitudes like yours, that democracy collapses yet again in Argentina and another despotic military junta takes over. Someone should point out that the numbers 2012 can be turned around to look like "zion" without creating a logo.  The current numbers in use were developed by the Indians but actually made popular and spread through the Middle East & Africa by the Persians.  So if Iran has a complaint it should blame the Persians.

I can't believe that people are defending islamization of the world now... What the hell do I care if the Olympics Logo says "Zion", or "Israel", or "Jews"? Secondly - The advert was a rather silly little trick by the Argentinians clearly designed to aggravate the situation and annoy the Falkland Islanders - which it did, to what end I don't know. I do not think anything is going to change with regard to sovereignty of the island as the islanders wont even start discussions hence these silly little attmepts by the Argentinians to rile the situation. I repeat an assertion I made in an earlier post - the only people who have any right to determine the sovereignty of the islands are the people actually living on the islands. Politics has creeped into nothing, you go back over every summer Olympics since 1980 and there's been political wrangling surrounding most of them. Moscow 80 and LA 84 well enough documented, but also the less well-remembered cases like Barcelona 92 which was dogged by the issue of Catalan autonomy. Very little of it has anything to do with sport anymore.

The Olympics is just the modern day Colosseum where the elite go to cheer on their steroided slaves while wineing and dineing and have sex with other spouses all on the tab of the taxpayer. A place just like the gladiator days where you only have one winner and all the rest are losers.

Well, I don't know who they consulted. Ask anyone British about the Logo - everyone here hates it. Some newspapers ran competitions for alternative ones, and much better designs were submitted. This mess has been compared to a broken paving stone and a smashed swastika. But then the Games are just an excuse to squeeze the taxpayer for money so government-friendly corporations can build the facilities at vast public expense, which will be left to rot afterwards as they are completely unsuited to the needs of the localities where they are situated. This is sold with vague appeals to 'national pride', same way as our squalid little wars now. Meanwhile we get police with machine guns in the streets, missiles on the rooftops and jets overhead, just to show how 'safe' we are. All it'll take is someone to set off a load of fireworks in a bin and we'll have martial law.

These Olympics are a bad joke.

Each host nation takes advantage of the Olympics. It's a chance to display the finer things of a country's culture. Unfortunately all I have seen in relation to the Olympics in London concerns, missiles, airborne troops, marines doing amphibious assaults and a range of security meeasures more suited to a limited war. If this is what Britain wishes to advertise then it's not a good impression. Security is a concept best done discreetly. Avoid the Olympics seems to be the message.
