A kingdom far, far away has become the setting for the first ever 3-dimensional full-length animated feature made in Russia. “Our Masha and a Magic Nut” aims to target animation lovers of all ages.

It took the crew five long years to complete the animated film which will be finally released in cinemas across Russia on December 10.

Animation artists used the images of real actors to make their characters come to life and look natural.

“Our Masha” has been brought together by film maker Egor Kochalovsky, best known for his action dramas “Antikiller” and “The Recluse”, and one of Russia’s most experienced TV and film producers, Aleksandr Akopov.

The team of professionals made sure they blended human energy with state-of- the-art technology.

The battle of good versus evil unfolds in a kingdom run by the Rat King. The animated film, written on the motifs of Hoffmann’s Nutcracker, focuses on the red-haired beauty Masha, who is ready to face any challenge when one of her best friends is in trouble and needs help.

Only a magic nut called Krakatuk can save their day by making one wish come true.

Should “Our Masha” prove successful with audiences in Russia, it could mark the beginning of the long-awaited 3D-era in Russian animation industry.
