AK-47 named European basketball player of the year

Andrey Kirilenko has been named 2007 European basketball player of the year. The Russian clinched the prize following a tremendous season, which saw him help his country win the European championship and continue to make waves in the NBA.
The Utah Jazz forward, nicknamed AK-47, led the Salt Lake City side to the Western Conference finals despite constant transfer rumours.
Last year's winner in the FIBA vote, Dirk Novitsky of Germany, was second this time around with Spaniard Jose Calderon third.
