Armenian woodwind instrument maestro plays in Kremlin

Moscow's State Kremlin Palace has hosted a concert featuring the music of the duduk, a traditional Armenian woodwind instrument, played by famous musician Jivan Gasparyan with the Russian National Orchestra.
UNESCO has declared duduk a masterpiece of the Intangible Heritage of Humanity. Mr Gasparyan is one of those who made the ancient instrument known worldwide.He toured the world, working with such musicians as Lionel Richie and Peter Gabriel.He recorded soundtracks to dozens of films, including “Gladiator”.Along with Armenian folk tunes, the musician has performed compositions based on Deep Purple's hits.Gasparyan says the duduk, with its warm and melancholic tone, is the best instrument to capture the joy and sorrow of Armenian people.
