Botticelli, Rembrandt and Van Gogh are only a few of the artists whose work is turning Moscow into an open-air gallery. Replicas of world-famous paintings will be on display in city centre streets for 20 weeks.

The large-scale Art Tour project has been organised by the Pushkin Fine Arts Museum.

A special website, which offers maps and downloadable audio tours, has also been launched.

The organisers say they want to promote interest in classic art among the general public and hope more people will turn to the originals when they've seen the copies in the streets.

Meanwhile, with the project just launched, some pictures are already gathering dozens of curious spectators.
