Every year thousands of baby seals are killed for their precious pelts in northern Russia. It is unbearable to watch baby seals being clubbed to death. Wild life activists have only partly succeeded in banning the barbaric practice.
The authorities of the Arkhangelsk region in Russia’s north have suspended baby seal hunting, but it’s still unclear for how long. Local residents rely on it as virtually their only source of revenue.
