Khimki are the new Russian Basketball Cup champions. The trophy has left CSKA's cabinet for the first time since 2005, as the three-time champs were beaten by the Moscow Region men in Kazan.
CSKA built a small lead throughout the first period and managed to hold on to it in the second, at the end of which they led by two points.
But in the third, Khimki edged closer. Machey Lampe scored several very important points. He finished the night with 23, helping his partners to hold CSKA to just eight points in the quarter.
The underdogs got stronger and stronger coming in the final period, when they completely outplayed their opponents.
The final score was a shock 85-67 to Khimki.
