Cannes hosts Russian Arts Festival

Five days of cinema, music and dance. One of the highlights of the 10th Russian Arts Festival was a showing of the only Russian film ever to win the Palme D’Or back in 1958, Mikhail Kalatozov’s “The Cranes are Flying”: a love story set during
“It was the first Russian movie we watched in France. And it was pretty good at that time. Nice actors, nice movie,” a French woman said after watching the film.

Guests have come to sample traditional
Russian cuisine
The Russian Art Festival is not only about spiritual nourishment. Guests have come to sample traditional Russian cuisine and polish it off with caviar and, of course, a shot of vodka. Some of Russia’s top chefs have come to Cannes for the occasion.
To accompany the haute cuisine some of the latest Russian haut couture is at the festival as well.
And while Cannes is enjoying russian art, carnival performers have been taking to the streets of Moscow.
Thousands of spectators lined one of the city's most historic streets, The Old Arbat, as the entertainers passed through on saturday.
The area is a well known gathering place for street performers, singers and artists.
The procession was part of an International Festival of Street Theatre.
