Chechnya will host an international film festival called “Noah’s Ark” in June 2008.

Chechnya will host an international film festival called “Noah’s Ark” in June 2008.
The event will take place in the republic’s capital Grozny and will last for one week.
Over 100 film-makers have already applied to feature at the festival. Upwards of 40 full-length films, shorts and documentaries from more than 20 countries have been chosen to participate in the film forum.
Cannes participant “Alexandra” by Alexander Sokurov (Russia), Oscar-nominated “On the Wings of Dreams” by Golam Rabbany (Bangladesh), “West Bank Story” by Ari Sandel (USA) – an Oscar-winning short in 2006, “Andalucia” by Alain Gomis (Spain-France) a winner at Seville and other works from all over the world will be shown.
«12», an Oscar-nominated movie in 2008, written and directed leading Russian director Nikita Mikhalkov will kick off the event.
The jury consists of film-makers from Russia, Georgia, USA, Egypt and Norway.
The President of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, has said that the film festival will help forward the development of tolerance in the country, saying this film festival will surely be a major event in the cultural life of the republic and help bring together the people of Russia.
