Carolina Kluft wins pentathlon at European Indoor Championships

Carolina Kluft from Sweden has retained her pentathlon title at the European Indoor Athletics Championships in Birmingham. She had a lead of 34 points over British Kelly Sotherton going into the final 800 metre event.
Kelly Sotherton won the race – but Carolina Kluft was only half a second behind – enough to give her overall victory and silver to Kelly Sotherton. Karin Ruckstuhl of the Netherlands took bronze.
