David Beckham will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, and sign a five year deal with Major League Soccer's L.A. Galaxy. The news has ended weeks of speculation over the 31-year-old's future.
The Spanish club had reportedly offered to extend Beckham's contract by a further two seasons, but it is unlikely that they would be able to match LA's price, purported to be worth $ US 250 MLN over the next 5 years. The former England Captain, who joined Real Madrid from Manchester United in June 2003, will arguably be the highest profile player to move to the U.S. league since the MLS was established in 1996.
