Russia's top-ranked tennis player Nikolay Davydenko has claimed his third Poertschach title in Austria, with a three-set victory over last year's winner Juan Monaco.
In a clash of the two top-seeds, Davydenko was the more aggressive.
Despite conceding the second set, he wrapped up a 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 victory and a third title at the Austrian tournament.
Success in Austria may become a fine confidence boost for Davydenko, as he plays his opening match at the French Open on Monday.
“The weather was great today. The win gives me great confidence before Rolland Garros. I hope I’ll come to Paris and be fit,” Nikolay Davydenko said.
