Deep Purple will perform live at Moscow club B1 Maximum. The legendary rockers will give two concerts in the Russian capital on Saturday April 18 and Sunday April 19.

Previous concerts of the group in Russia traditionally took place in huge concert halls, gathering thousands of people. This time people will get a chance to listen to the group’s concert in the chamber atmosphere of a club, playing their best songs of all time.

Last time the rock legends came to Russia was October 2008. During last year’s Russian-Ukrainian tour the group visited 11 cities, and each time the halls were packed to the gills.

Hard rock group Deep Purple was formed in 1968 under the name Roundabout. In April of the same year the group members renamed themselves to the now world famous moniker.

The group is considered to be one of the most influential rock bands of the 1970s, and one of the founders of the heavy metal genre. Indeed, they are said to have influenced all ‘heavy’ music played since their inception.

In the 40 years of Deep Purple’s history 14 musicians have come and gone, including legendary guitar master Ritchie Blackmore, who now pursues his own solo projects. Today’s group is made up of Ian Gillan (vocals), Roger Glover (bass), Steve Morse (guitar), Don Airey (keyboards) and Ian Paice (drums).
