If there were just one word to describe Spanish designer Tony Francesc it might be...sophisticated. His clothes are not what they seem to be.

The Spanish designer avoids clichés and standards and proudly says he’s not trends-driven. Tony says what really drives him is the constant quest for renovation and experiment.

His creations possess a rebellious ability to transform: his trademark pants can turn into a mini skirt, jackets can be worn upside down…

Francesc’s latest collection on display at the Russian Fashion Week is entitled Contemplation. It was inspired by contemporary photography and surrealism, looking dramatic and sharp. But Tony says it’s not because of the global economic crisis. “It hasn’t affected me and I don’t focus on it. The most important thing for me is to help women feel special at all times.”

His favorite colors for the next autumn are black, brown and dark blue. “Dark palette, unlike bright colors, can be mixed with anything else. Women who are trying to cut back on spending these days will appreciate it,” says Tony.

“Lets’ try to be more creative,” suggests the forward-thinking designer.

He says his creations are easy to wear to the point where, Tony confesses, “I would wear them myself if I were a woman!”

His approach to fashion is somewhat unconventional and ambitious. “I try to do what I like, that’s my credo. Clothes that I created 2 or 3 years ago still look trendy. I also think that the less attention you pay to fashion, the better. A designer should be selfish.”
