Lithuanian singer Sasha Son will perform at Eurovision despite his criticism of the technical side of the contest.
Earlier on Thursday, the pop singer was quoted by the Ria Novosti news agency as saying that “technical conditions [he was provided with] in Moscow are worse than those in Lithuania.” He reportedly wasn't even excluding the possibility of pulling out of Eurovision “if worst comes to worst."
According to Sasha, the organizers of the contest refused to show the video clip which was created specially for his performance, and failed to provide the stage with enough lighting during his rehearsal.
However, after his second rehearsal on Sunday, Son said “although the organizers still won’t let me show the video clip, they’ve improved the lighting.”
“I will perform because the lighting has become better, although we are still unhappy with the organizers, as they still don’t let us show neither the photographs, nor the video.”
The management of Channel One, one of the organizers of the contest, told Ria Novosti that “the organizers of the contest have no problems with the Lithuanian participant. As planned before, Sasha Son will be performing at the contest.”
Channel One's head of public relations, Larisa Krymova, said earlier that the Lithuanian singer’s complaints concerning the technical defects of the performance have to do with the stress the singer feels in light of the impending semi-finals and finals. She also indicated that the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) are happy with the quality of the graphic arts of all the participants.
The Lithuanian singer started his music career at the age of 12. He will perform his song ‘Love’ in English at the second semi-final on May 14.
