Ivan Ukhov, the current holder of Russia’s national high jump record, has been named the European athlete of the month. The twenty-year old had three wins from three events in January.

Ivan Ukhov also set a new indoor Russian record last month beating the previous mark by 6 centimetres. His result 2,39 metres is the sixth indoor result in world athletics history.

It is double joy for the athlete who won Russia's national indoor championship at the weekend and therefore booked his place at the Euro indoor finals in Birmingham in March.
