Russian number one Nikolay Davydenko has been outwitted again by Roger Federer at the Shanghai Masters Cup. Davydenko is virtually out now after two defeats, while Federer is back on track.
Top-ranked Federer snapped his two-match losing streak, beating the fourth seed Davydenko 6-4, 6-3.
But the Swiss master still has to beat Andy Roddick on Friday to have a serious chance of making the semifinals in the end of season event.
Meanwhile, Andy Roddick recorded his second win of the event. He beat Fernando Gonzalez in straight sets.
So Roddick has two wins, Gonzalaz and Federer one apiece and Davydenko yet gets off the mark.
