Feline football fan looks for purr-fect performance

Published: 26 June, 2008, 10:14

A family from Ukraine’s Kuzbass region say their black cat Musya is watching all Russia’s Euro 2008 matches and she is a real fan – even her whiskers bristle when goals are scored, says Russian newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda.

Furthermore, the cat has her own favourites among the Russian team. She makes eyes at Andrey Arshavin and turns away when she sees Roman Pavlyuchenko on the screen.

The Alekseyevs say they first paid attention to their cat’s enthusiasm for watching sports during the Russia-Canada World Ice Hockey Final. After the Russians claimed the title, it occurred to the magical cat’s owners that their Musya could bring luck to Russia’s sportsmen.

Now, with the Russian football team’s successful performances at Euro 2008, the Alekseyevs are sure she does – and they say nothing will keep them from watching the semi-final match with Spain together with their Musya the Fan.
