Moscow’s central Red Square has been transformed into a skating rink and some of the best figure skaters in the world have turned out to thrill the crowds in Russia’s capital.
The event helped to support the capital's bid to host the Youth Olympic Games in 2010, and praise must go to the organisers who managed to bring together so much top talent for Moscow to see.
Despite the frosty evening, skating enthusiasts fled to the centre of Moscow to see famous figure skaters in action together.
World and Olympic champions of the past along with a number of rising stars took part with one sole aim – to entertain.
Russia’s great new hopes in ice-dancing, Jana Khokhlova and Sergey Novitsky opened the show.
They were followed by a passionate Canadian Emmanuel Sandhu who surprised the public with some touching singing.
And then it was time for the really big names – World and European Champions Aleksey Tikhonov and Maria Petrova appeared on the ice performing to Eros Ramazzotti's ballade. Olympic champions Ekaterina Gordeeva and Ilya Kulik seemed to take the crowd's breath away.
