Just a day after Lance Armstrong announced his return to professional cycling from retirement, disgraced former Tour de France competitor Floyd Landis has given notice he's to make a comeback as well.

After initially being declared the winner of the 2006 Tour de France, test results from stage 17 of the race found he had an abnormally high testosterone/epitestosterone ratio.

Landis was subsequently stripped of his victory, with second place finisher Óscar Pereiro being officially declared the winner.  The American was then fired from the Phonak team, before being suspended by the sports governing body, the International Cycling Union.

It was the first time in history a champion lost the title for a doping offence.

The 32 year old American's ban ends at the beginning of 2009, and Landis will ride for the team currently sponsored by Health Net-Maxxis, under a new title sponsor.
