French engineering company Alstom has unveiled a new generation of high-speed trains. The ceremony was attended by President Nicholas Sarkozy, who took a tour of the train.
AGV (Automotrice Grande Vitesse), a successor to TGV fast trains that were developed 27 years ago, will travel at a speed of up to 360 kilometres per hour.
The train's engines, placed under each carriage, are more energy efficient and the innovative multiple-unit design allows more passenger space.
