At Paris Fashion Week's latest shows Dior designer John Galliano has shocked the public with an excessive amount of fur and leather in his collection, while Vivienne Westwood turned the catwalk into a Stone Age cage.
“Stone Age” is the latest collection by the Queen of Extravaganza. The show is full of deconstructed tailoring – the trademark of the British designer. Stylish models wear blouses with armour, like pads attached to their shoulders, trousers made of two parts, connected by strips of fabric and very high heeled boots. Some dresses feature large air pockets at the breasts and hips, making the skinny models look more shapely. It is obvious these models do not resemble those who lived during the Stone Age.“The political message here is that we just need to go back to the Stone Age, wake up and start all over again,” Vivienne Westwood explains. Another British designer, the “enfant terrible” of the fashion industry, John Galliano, confirmed his status as a top trendsetter. His latest collection stunned fashion lovers with its beauty, chic and glamour. The fall-winter collection is full of coats made of rich leather and fur. Skillfully designed by Galliano, the first foreign art director of the French fashion house Christian Dior, it is the bastion of original Parisian style.
