Among lots of promising modern artists there still can be found those who work within the classical framework. Nana Mangegaladze is one of them. Among lots of promising modern artists there still can be found those who work within the classical framework.
Her exhibition is called “Magic moment” and her style is reminiscent of the late Renaissance. Ms Mangegaladze does not have a professional art education, but graduated from the University of Tbilisi with a degree in diplomatic studies. She was one of the first women to go into business in Georgia, and her career blossomed. But one day she realised it was not her calling it was then when she painted her first picture. “I remember that inner voice of mine that said: if you feel your heart’s desire to do something, then you have to follow it,” recalls the artist.Although her works look like classic oil paintings they, in fact, have a special secret. Her paintings are not made out of oil, but from natural products. Nana uses anything, from grass to fruit, and she invents and creates them all herself. But the biggest secret of the author's art is that all of the paintings are in her imagination. Each landscape, street or image is make-believe. The subjects of her work are close to everybody: loneliness, love and disappointment. The exhibition will run until the Orthodox Christmas on January 7.
