Georgian performs record weight-lifting stunt

Tedo Ulumbelashvili, a traffic policeman from Georgia, is working-out for a place in the Guinness Book of Records. He's a weight-lifter, but this strong man doesn't use his hands.
With one 16-kilogramme dumbbell clenched in his teeth, another tied to his hair and a third suspended from his ears, Tedo lifts a record-breaking 48 kilos with his head only.
“I had to stop wrestling after an accident. Wrestlers often receive damage to ears. I no longer feel any pain in my ears – that is what gave me the idea for the record,” Tedo explains.
When not performing bizarre weight-lifting stunts, family man Tedo works as a traffic policeman, and-naturally-his colleagues are very proud of his achievements.
“It's just unbelievable: he managed to lift a sixteen kilo dumbbell fixed onto his hair-there are some people who wouldn't be able to lift that with their hands!” says Tedo's fellow policeman Konstantin Khvistani.
Tedo started his sporting career at a young age, and has a shelf-full of trophies and medals to his name.
“He was European champion wrestler and did well in the world championships. Each of his victories is a victory for him, for his family and for me. We are very proud of him,” says Tedo's mother, Lamara Gelashvili.
And although the Guinness Book of Records has yet to verify Tedo's achievement as a new world record, he says he can prove himself again, anytime.

Russian surfers catch the windIt does not matter if the sun shines or the sky is blue. For dedicated windsurfers it is only the wind and waves that matter. For years Russian surfers have gathered near Saint Petersburg on the shores of the Gulf of Finland. |
