Guus Hiddink found guilty of tax fraud

Published: 27 February, 2007, 10:55

In the Netherlands, a court has been ordered Russia's current national football coach to pay a 45,000 euro fine after being found guilty of tax fraud. Guus Hiddink, a Dutch citizen, was also given six months probation.

60-year-old Hiddink has been found guilty of evading almost $US 1.84 MLN in taxes while falsely claiming he was a resident of Belgium in 2002 and 2003.

That was after he came back from coaching South Korea at the World Cup.

On February 6 prosecutors demanded he serve a 10-month jail sentence, dismissing claims he had been living in Belgium as “a joke”.
