Residents of an apartment block in Eastern Moscow woke up to find a new neighbour in their building – a horse.
People in the area say the animal was seen wandering the streets earlier in the day. As night approached and the weather turned cold, somebody took pity on the horse and brought it into the stairwell of an apartment block.
Emergency services were called when the animal got stuck and refused to leave the building. Rescuers say horses are able to walk upstairs but cannot go downstairs.
But officers finally managed to get the horse down and out. The animal is reported to be uninjured but suffering from shock.
