The reigning Russian Super League champions Salavat Yulaev (Ufa) had ten consecutive victories before eventually surrendering to HC Atlant (Moscow region) on October 21. Nevertheless, resting just four points behind leaders Atlant, they are hot favourites

So far winning the title of champions of Russia has been the biggest ever success for the club founded in Ufa, the Bashkortostan capital, in 1961.
