Ice hockey: Akbars tops Russian Super League table

Akbars have a 3-point lead at the top of the Russian Super League after they beat second-placed Avangard 5-3. Akbars took the lead after only 30 seconds, as Denis Zaripov found the net on a break-away.
Both sides then traded goals, before Avangard drew level at 2. However, the game turned in the final minute of the second. Akbars added two quick goals to go 4-2 up. Avangard pulled a goal back in the third, but Akbars sealed the match with seconds to go, after scoring into an empty net to win 5-3.
