Ice Hockey: Canada beat Russia

Published: 05 January, 2007, 21:33

Russia has lost 4-2 to Canada in the final of the Under 20's World Championships in Sweden. This was the third successive time the two sides have met in the final and each time luck was not with Russia.

They were trailing 4-0 midway through the second period.

Goals from Valentenko and Zubov, both on the powerplay, had given Russia a glimmer of hope, but it wasn’t enough.

Earlier on, the USA beat Sweden to take the Bronze Medal.
