It’s hard to tell what it is: circus, dance or theatre? – In fact, all of the above at once!

One of the leading companies in contemporary circus arts, Canadian Cirque Éloize and Swiss Teatro Sunil, have brought their collective performance “Nebbia” (“Fog”) to the Russian capital.

The performance is an exploration of dreams and fantasies, a surreal voyage into a land of fog. Swiss director and author Daniele Pasca says that in Nebbia, “the sky descends like a mantle to cover our shoulders and protect our dreams.”

To fulfill his artistic aim, Pasca blends the art of acrobatics with the poetry of the circus.

“From a very early age, I’ve been fascinated by acrobatics. Fascinated by the movement that defies the laws of gravity that combines strength and lightness, precision, synchronicity, confidence, surprise and risk. I like what goes unexpressed in theater, the veiled, the gesture,” Pasca explains.

The show opened at Moscow’s International Chekhov Festival and runs until July 9.
