Canine couture is on show in Moscow as designers display their best outfits at the first ever Russian Pet Fashion Week.
Women and men across the globe have caught on to the fashion must-have that is a tiny pet pooch. Small, easy to carry around, and easy to accessorize to match your current outfit – the trend and love for handbag hounds has hit Russia.
This is what has prompted Russia’s first ever Pet Fashion Week, which got underway this weekend.
A host of stars of the catwalk and stage and screen are taking to the dogwalk with their 4-legged friends.
Famous Russian It-girl Viktoria is taking part with her furry baby Jolietta. She spends on the pet on average over $500 a month.
“She has like a little closet, where we store all her stuff – stuff like denim skirts. I can wear a jean skirt and she can wear a jean skirt, so that we can look similar,” Viktoria says.
The vast selection of clothing for pets comes from America, but there are also European and Russian-style accessories. In addition, Sochi 2014 tracksuits have gained in popularity recently.
Designers say the event could reshape the daily doggie walk in Russia and the owners will soon have to compete to look as good as their faithful fidos.
