Lucky gambler falls foul of taxman

A criminal case has been launched against a gambler in Russia's Central Kirov region after he failed to declare a big win at a local casino. The unnamed resident scooped over one million roubles, about $US 40,000, on slot machines in March 2006.
According to Russia's Tax Code, he was obliged to pay around $US 6,000 in tax.
He could now be facing up to a year in prison.
