Man eats 23,000 Big Macs and keeps munching

Published: 10 September, 2008, 15:24

A man in the U.S. state of Wisconsin says he has consumed 23,000 Big Macs over the last 26 years. Don Gorske explained he is driven in the eating spree by an obsessive-compulsive disorder.

The 54-year-old passed the 23,000 millstone last month, reports the Associated Press news agency.

Since May 17, 1972, when his food marathon started, the man ate two Big Macs and two parfaits a day, keeping receipts in a special box. He used to order fries as well but decided to cut back in the 1990s and now eats them once a month.

He only skipped once on the day his mother died, to respect her request.

His diet is far from being healthy, but Gorske says he keeps himself in good shape and walks as many as 10 miles a day.
