A citizen of the central Russian city of Kazan has won a court case against the US fast-food giant McDonalds. However, it turned nothing but a Pyrrhic victory, as legal expenses exceeded 30 times that sum.
Farida Shimanova, a local school teacher claims she slipped on the wet floor at the restaurant and sustained concussion and facial cuts.
The woman had demanded 1 million rubles as compensation, but instead she got a meager 1,700 – around $55.
It is not yet clear whether the woman plans to appeal the decision.
However, after spending almost $2,000 just to pay her lawyer, an appeal could be even more costly.
