Montreal win for Serbian Ivanovic

Published: 22 August, 2006, 09:59

Ana Ivanovic beat Martina Hingis in the Montreal Open final. She cruised past the former world Number One in the opening set, producing lots of beautiful play. Trailing 5-2, Hingis called her mother and coach courtside for a talk which failed to help.

Ivanovic served out the first set 6-2 and then continued to dominate. A stunning backhand slice winner was one of the second set highlights. Then, after 58 minutes, the Serbian wrapped up the match 6-2 6-3 to grab her second WTA title. The 18-year-old collected a cheque of $200,000.
