Moscow Grand Symphony Orchestra: with love for Brahms

Published: 13 March, 2007, 17:44

The Moscow Grand Symphony Orchestra has presented a series of concerts called “Aimez-vous Brahms?” or, “Do you like Brahms?” – borrowing the name from Francoise Sagan's novel.

As the title suggests, the series exclusively features music by the German romantic composer, Johannes Brahms.

The conductor, Vladimir Fedoseev, has called this series of concerts “Anxiety for Romanticism”.

Cellist, Aleksander Knyazev, and violinist, Tatyana Grindenko, took part in the performance, playing the double concerto.

Brahms was the first composer in the history of music to create a concerto for violin and cello, calling the work a “funny fantasy” – just another approach in the quest for romanticism.
