Movie fans are flocking to the American Film Festival in Moscow, which is in its fifth day. The event is called New Images of America, and one of the highlights is Day Zero directed by Bryan Gunnar Cole, a renowned documentary maker.
Day Zero is his first full length feature film. Three friends are drafted into the U.S. army and have to go to Iraq within a month. They reflect on love, friendship and honour and count down the days until they have to leave, hence the name Day Zero.
The leading roles are played by Elijah Wood, Chris Klein and John Bernthal.
The film plot is fictional, but the political and social atmosphere of Day Zero is realistic.
“It is taking the issue of global struggle on terror; every country is facing that, and focusing it on three individuals who are conscripted into that fight,” said Bryan Gunnar Cole, the film Director.
