New money celebrates Medvedev’s moggy

Medvedev’s cat Dorofey
A new banknote which honours Dmitry Medvedev’s cat has been issued to delegates at the International Economic Forum in St Petersburg.
The new moggy money has been created to coincide with the International Day of St. Petersburg’s Cats.
The Russian President’s beloved pet, Dorofey, features on one side of the note, with a famous local feline on the other side.
Tishka on Marat street in St. Pete
The kitty currency has been named Tishka, after a well-known sculpture on Marat street in Russia’s northern capital.
The one million souvenir tishka are, of course, not a recognised currency. Nonetheless, they are expected to bring a smile to the faces of visitors to the forum.
President Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon and heads of states who are taking part in the Economic Forum will all be presented with the cash.
