Russia’s captain Andrey Arshavin has fuelled speculation he could be heading to play in the English Premier League.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to Premier League side Newcastle United. And it seems Arshavin, who skippered Zenit Saint Petersburg to the Russian championship last month, would be in favour of such a move.
The forward told British newspaper The Daily Mirror he had not yet been contacted, but would welcome an approach from Newcastle, saying he felt ready for a new challenge.
The transfer window in England opens on New Year's Day, meaning Arshavin could even be playing in the Premier League as soon as next month.
