Nureyev's anniversary remembered

World-renowned Russian ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev would have been 70 years old today. Nureyev was educated at the Leningrad Ballet School and starred with the Kirov Ballet before defecting to the west during a tour of France.
His performances electrified audiences around the world and in the 1970s he also gained international popularity as a film actor and a director at the Paris Grand Opera.
He died of AIDS in 1993 and is buried at a Russian cemetery near Paris.
