‘Russia from a train window’ is a new photo exhibition that has opened at Moscow’s New Manege. Photographer Anton Lange took his camera on long-distance train journeys and now presents a photo report of his railway expedition.

The expedition was initiated by the Russian Railways company and the organisers were happy to give this mission to Lange, who, they say, is “a great artist”.

He’s been crossing the country from east to west and north to south by train, capturing its various landscapes and faces.

It's the first time such a vast panorama of the country has been created.

Planning the route of the trip, Lange was aiming to get to the most remote and little- known destinations. And he hasn’t finished yet – Anton Lange plans to take the train again and continue his expedition until the end of 2008.

The exhibition will run from May 1 to May 16.
