“Balkan girls like to party like nobody," according to a long-legged pop princess from Romania who comes from a family of priests.

“It’s time for me to unwind, I’m gonna start my weekend with gin tonic and lime…” The lyrics to the song that Elena Gheorghe will perform at the first semi-final of the Eurovision contest in Moscow could please a number of party lovers.

The 23-year old singer says The Balkan Girls is just what the doctor ordered to be a success at the Eurovision contest. “I think that the national flavor is very important when you participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. This contest has so many participants from different countries, and when you come here, you bring a part of your country and yourself. In the song, we have also brought Romanian elements with a folklore theme to bring something original to it.”

Half Romanian, Half Macedonian, Elena has a roster of music awards and is a passionate dancer. Three years ago she opened her own dance school called Passitos.

Elena says it’s only natural for a woman to enjoy being told over and over again that she is beautiful and sexy. “There's nothing wrong with that,” she insists. Her closest contestants at the first semi-final on May 12 are ‘Turkish Beyonce’ Hadise and Susanne Georgi from Andorra.
