An Italian criminal drama ‘Gomorra’ has helped the police catch a real life mafioso. Although the mobster was on the run, it didn’t stop him from playing a minor role in the movie.
The critically acclaimed film was shown to inmates in a Naples prison reports the Italian daily Corriere della Sera.
Some of the convicts who had connections with the Camorra, the Naples-based organised crime syndicate, recognised the face on the screen as one of their own.
The man, who was credited as Giovanno Venosa, had won a minor role at an open audition.
Police followed the tip and tracked him down. It was not revealed for what crimes ‘Vendosa’ was put on the wanted list, but he is now being
held in prison.
The mobster reportedly has a passion for acting, which seems to have led to his downfall.
