Pilot-free aircraft complete Arctic test flights

The test flights were carried out between July 1 and July 8 on board a ship in the Russian Arctic. Ten test flights were performed in strong winds of up to 22 meters per second.
The pilot-free helicopter, ZALA 421-06, has range of 40km and can stay in the air for up to three hours. Powered by an internal combustion engine, it has a cruising speed of 50 km/h and a maximum speed of 80 km/h. Its main rotor diameter is just 1.77 meters. It’s equipped with colour and an infrared cameras and transfers data to the ground via secure channel in real time.

UAV ZALA 421-08 system consists of 2 aircrafts, compact control station, and a container. Their maximum flight duration is 90 minutes at speed ranging from 65 to 130 km/h.
A-Level Aerosystems is the only company in Russia and the CIS that has both developed unmanned helicopters and put them on the market.
